Faculty and administrators can take an active lead to increase student learning outcomes and encourage other faculty to practice assessment. Innovative ideas implemented by forward thinking faculty have promoted classroom engagement, increased the quality of instruction, and, most remarkably, helped resistant faculty see the benefit of assessing student lea rning outcomes. The use of clicker technology as ongoing formative assessment at Azusa Pacific University will be demonstrated.

CSUB's Delphi study, online Campus Assessment Center, and Faculty Fellowship program for teaching and learning effectiveness will be presented.Taft College's use of authentic and formative assessments designed by instructors and using interactive PC Tablets will be discussed. In all of these venues, the creative thinking of professionals devoted to improvement has caused a chain reaction that has resulted in increase d faculty engagement in assessment and increased student learning outcomes.
