The question of how to deliver graduate programs that are relevant, transformative, and accessible to today's adult population has never been more urgent. Fewer adults can afford to devote several years to full-time graduate studies; at the same time, the needs of communities, US society, and the world are multiplying. Innovative ideas for engaging students in graduate education are needed. This session explores recent trends in graduate education, focusing on distributed learning, cohort approaches, weekend formats, group dissertation research, course-related involvement in professional conferences, service to under-resourced communities, and development of cultural competence in the application of skills. Join us for a discussion of demographic trends, findings from research, and promising practices.
